Wednesday

Fable Reading

Unfortunately, our Fables will not be delivered to the school until next week so we will need to postpone our reading until Friday, June 25th @ 8:15 am. If anything changes I will post a new message.

Friday

Pioneer Day

We are going to be setting up our own Pioneer Village on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. In the morning we will be hosting other classes who will come through and observe the research we have done on different pioneer jobs over the past few weeks. During the afternoon students will be playing Pioneer games that they created. Students are encouraged to dress in role of the pioneer job that they researched. Parents are welcome to come and stop by before lunch.

Fable Reading

We are hoping to have our Fables arrive at the beginning of next week. If everything is on time our students are going to have an opportunity to read their fables to each other and other classes in our school. We are going to also open things up to give parents a chance to come and see our fables. On Friday, June 18th @ 8:15am we are going to have our student authors host an open house for everyone to come and enjoy.

EQAO

With our EQAO testing behind us I would like to thank all of the parents who generously put together our treats and drinks for the week. It was greatly appreciated.

Tuesday

BBQ Recipe

This is just a reminder that the BBQ recipes need to be brought in no later than Wednesday, May 5th. The recipe book needs to be put together and the basket needs to be complete by Friday. Thank you for your efforts.

May Schedule

The year seems to be flying by as we are now into May. Here is an update as to what we are going to be doing over the next couple of weeks.

Language
  • Finish Our Fables- most of the fables have been completed and are ready for publishing. If your child is not complete can you make sure that we get that in as soon as possible.
  • Procedural Writing- students will learn to give instructions on how to complete a task. Procedural writing progresses sequentially and organizes information in a logical, step by step order
  • Continue to prepare for EQAO

Math

  • Fractions- we will be learning about fractions and to describe a figure that is in equal parts.
  • Probability- students will be doing experiments and predicting the results of something happening as well as how to determine if a game is fair or unfair.

Social Studies

  • Continue with our Pioneer unit

Science

  • Continue with our Plants and Soil unit

The Math Quiz on Tuesday, April 20th will be on Length, Perimeter, and Area. The review package that went home last week is to be brought in on Monday so we can go over the questions.
