Homework Club

Homework Club will always be on Tuesday morning and Wednesday after school. If there is a change in the schedule I will be sure to post it on the blog and let the students know prior to.

Interview Times

A notice went home today indicating when each interview time is scheduled. Also, students were to write down in their agendas the date and time of the interview. If the time given does not work for you please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks.

Movember

November is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. I am captaining a team that will each be growing a moustache throughout the entire month of November ( hence the witty campaign name of Movember) to bring awareness and raise money. All of the money raised will be going to Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC). Many of my team members are staff at LKS so keep that in mind when you give them a puzzled look as they walk past you in the hallway. Homework Club

I am going to set up a Homework Club for the students in our classroom. During this time students can come in and get extra help on any work that they are having difficulty with. Right now there will be one day in the morning and one day after school in which the students can stay for help. In the morning it will start at 8:30 and go until the start of school and in the afternoon it will go until 3:50. For next week, it will be on Tuesday morning and Wednesday after school. Just so there is no confusion about your child's whereabouts if they do choose to attend, can you please write in the planner that you know he/she is planning on attending the Homework Club.

Book Sharing

We have set up an Author's Review binder in our classroom. Students are to complete a Book Sharing form when they finish a story and submit it in the binder. We are going to put all of the books that were read on display so other children can read them. If you are willing to lend a book that your child read at home to the class for a month or so it would be greatly appreciated. Just put your name on the inside cover and we will make sure it gets returned to you.

No Spelling Test

There will not be a spelling test this week because Friday is a PA Day. We will continue with our Spelling next week.

Math Package

There was a math review package that was sent home Thursday night. The package is to be completed at home to help prepare students for the test on Monday.

Math Test

Just to let you know there will be a Patterning and Place Value Test on Monday, November 9th. There will be questions on patterning on a hundreds chart, number lines, modelling 2 and 3 digit numbers, ordinal numbers, comparing numbers, and rounding. A review package will be going home on Friday.

Artist in the Classroom

We will be having an artist come into the classroom on Wednesday afternoon to do an activity with the students. Each child is asked to bring in $5 before Wednesday to cover some of the costs to have the artist come in, parent council will be paying for the difference.
